Who We Are

A voluntary organisation built by women, for women

SMS Society is a voluntary organisation established in 2013 by a team of committed individuals sharing one vision: serving the society. It is a woman-headed organisation — run, managed and worked for women — concentrating on the wholesome development of the working community without regard to race, creed or religion, with particular focus on the rural poor, urban slum dwellers, adolescents & youth, farmers, elders and differently-abled persons.

Our Reg. No. is 168/2013, registered under the Tamil Nadu State Societies Registration Act 1976, with NGO ID TN/2018/0194883 recognised by NITI Aayog, Government of India, and valid 12A & 80G tax exemptions through 2027.

Mission

  • Bring about lasting change in the lives of poor people of rural India.
  • Help underprivileged women and children, irrespective of caste, colour, language or religion.
  • Support physically handicapped and affected persons.

Vision

To enable the poor to attain socio-economic and cultural development, educational and health support, political empowerment, and eco-environmental awareness — in order to create a sustainable society.

2013

Foundation

Society registered; first SHGs formed in Bodinayakanur.

2015

Expansion

Evening tuition centres and JLG farmer groups launched.

2018

Recognition

Women Achiever & Bharath Jyothi Excellence Awards received.

2022

FPO Launch

BODI SMS Fisheries & Animal Husbandry Producer Co. registered with NABARD.

2024

Decade Mark

25,000+ beneficiaries reached across 56 villages, four blocks.
